Lesson Preparation

This lesson focuses on helping students solidify what makes a statistical question and how to differentiate between categorical and numerical data through a warm-up activity and card sort activity. Students are also invited to explore the mean of a data set and use some informal/pre-formal language to describe the mean of a data set before more formal mathematics are introduced in the following lesson, lesson A3. A visual representation of data, bar graph, is used to help students conceptualize the mean.
